I wrote this piece a little bit ago, and reading it over and over has been a part of my continued healing. In honor of April being sexual assault awareness and prevention month, and in honor of my healing, I'd like to share it with you.

Bipolar Disorder used to have me
now I have Bipolar Disorder
as in I have it by the reigns
I control it, instead of it controlling me

My body and mind has been released
Now I can say I’ve been set free
Free in Him is free indeed
And that is all I really need

May we hold on to the innocence that says we can climb trees and not get hurt, even after falling and breaking bones

It is well with my soul
because despite the cracks
He has made me whole
it is well with my soul
because even through the constricted breath
of panic and angst I have the breath of life
I’m not thankful for panic and anxiety
but I am thankful that I’m still alive to experience...
